Graphene is an ideal material for the aviation industry. Many of the characteristics of graphene, such as lightness, flexibility, mechanical properties or the ability to modify its surface chemistry to improve the compatibility with different resins, are qualities very important for this industry.

In the aerospace and navigation market, graphene is used in the manufacture of composite materials for different parts (aircraft wings, fuselage, boat hulls …) by means of processes of infusion and RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding). Graphene improves the mechanical properties of composite materials, increasing their lifetime.

Applynano provides composite resins with graphene that can be used for these processes. Composites of carbon fiber and epoxy resins have reached an improvement of 60% in the delamination resistance.

On the other hand, the high conductivity of graphene makes it useful in such sectors as an aircraft protection from lightning or for deicing of surface planes, applying a minimum current.
